About

NorthAcre Shelties is a lifelong dream come true.  I trained my first Sheltie, Muffin, in obedience at the age of 9 and have owned Shelties for over 30 years.  Our Shelties are members of our family and love visitors.  Our hobby breeding program began in 2017 with Cara, our foundation bitch.  We socialize our puppy's from birth so they are great with children of all ages and other pets.  We are actively involved in AKC Conformation, Junior Showmanship, Agility and are members of the Tampa Bay Shetland Sheepdog Club.   We are passionate about our dogs and love sharing our knowledge and experience with others.

Mission

As a hobby breeder our mission is to produce Conformation prospect puppies that meet the breed standards as set by the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA).  Occasionally we may have puppies available.  Our breeding approach applies scientific, objective and subjective analysis to match a Sire to a Dam that will result in puppies that continuously improve our pedigree lines.  We are dedicated to producing healthy, happy puppies with excellent temperaments and perform ASSA and OFA recommended health testing.

Vision

Our vision is to one day look back at having achieved many years of nationally recognized Conformation and Agility Champions and have a huge extension of NorthAcre puppy families.   We hope you will follow us in our quest.

This is Muffin our first Sheltie that my Mom got for my little sister and I back in 1976 when I was 9.  She lived until almost 16.  Often when we were taking a family picture she would sneak in "photo bomb" and sometimes we didn't notice until the picture was printed.

"Muffin"

"Harli"

Harli was my second Sheltie and came from RossRoi Shelties, bred by Debbie Ross.  I got her when my children were little.  Back in 1998 the internet was still new so to find breeders you had to look in the newspaper, word of mouth or go to a dog show.  And to a dog show we went.  I was amazed watching people groom their Shelties and show them to an AKC Judge but wasn't able to pursue the sport at the time.  Harli had those crazy Sheltie quirks of barking at the vacuum and dryer buzzer, chasing lights and shadows on the floor and walls, and she always knew when I opened the cupboard that contained the can opener no matter where she was in the house.

"Cara" Donlyn's Caramel Creme, II CGC

Cara was my third Sheltie, bred by Bill & Irene Munsey.  She and the Munsey's are the reason I became involved in AKC sports and a member of Tampa Bay Shetland Sheepdog Club (TBASSC).  She had the sweetest temperament.  For many years we took obedience and agility classes and then decided to begin our breeding program.  And so began NorthAcre Shelties.
